Alejandra Velázquez currently serves as Senior Director of Public Affairs at Oportun where she oversees public policy and advocacy efforts and grassroots partnerships across nine states. She has more than fifteen years of experience in public policy, advocacy, coalition building, and multicultural/multilingual outreach. Alejandra started her professional career as a Field Deputy for CA Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuñez and as a Public Policy Manager for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Alejandra is a first generation American, born and raised in East Los Angeles; a proud graduate of Garfield High School. She earned a B.A. in History from Yale University and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law’s David J. Espstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy.
In addition to the United Latinx Fund, Alejandra also serves on the boards of Inner-City Law Center, Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP), and Uncommon Good. She is an alumna of the Marshall Memorial Fellowship program and the HOPE Leadership Institute.
