Project Roomkey: Continuing to Address the Coronavirus

LAHSA is continuing to monitor the developments related to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). 
As of today, Public Health has identified 36,259 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of LA County, and a total of 1,755 deaths. 261 of the positive cases of COIVD-19 are among people experiencing homelessness. 
Below is an update on LAHSA's efforts:
Project Roomkey
  • As of this morning they have 26 Hotel/Motel sites online totaling 2,588 beds.
  • They are serving 2,067 people in these sites, with more moving in today. 
  • They are seeking homeless service providers for Project Roomkey. Applicants must be certified as qualified bidders for receiving Los Angeles General Funds, County of Los Angeles General Funds, or Measure H Funds. Find out more on their website.

Wish Lists to Change Lives

While demand for services continues to increase during the COVID-19 crisis, resources and critical items to address these needs are in short supply. Canceled fundraisers, loss of fee-for-service and other funding streams have exacerbated our nonprofit partners' struggles. Nonprofit organizations are being forced to make impossibly difficult, relatively immediate decisions.  
However, volunteers can provide significant help by purchasing necessary items to support the individuals, families and children that have been hit hard by the pandemic.

SoCalGas & Sempra Energy Foundation Donate $50,000 and Commercial Kitchen Equipment to Covenant House California Shelter for Homeless Youth

The $50K and commercial cooking equipment donation will help supplement the cost of food and other services for homeless youth
LOS ANGELES – May 7, 2020 – Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) and Covenant House California (CHC) today announced that SoCalGas and the Sempra Energy Foundation together have donated $50,000 to Covenant House California, a non-profit shelter that provides sanctuary and support for homeless and trafficked youth, ages 18-24. The $50,000 donation includes, $25,000 from SoCalGas and $25,000 from the Sempra Energy Foundation. In addition, SoCalGas, is donating commercial cooking equipment for the shelter’s kitchen.
